Is it really July 21st? The summer is zooming by and in Michigan we are still waiting for it to begin. We have enjoyed perfect spring like weather the last few months so I'm always a little shocked when I look at the calender. Her's a quick run through of pictures I've taken (thankfully I take pictures because if there is no picture, often there is no memory of the event).
Charlie played his second year of Pee Wee soccer! He struggled the first few games but came around for all the others. The very last game was crazy, I'm not sure what happened to the cute little four year olds but they were so aggressive and kept pulling down the other team. I guess it was good it ended. The majority of his team was from preschool and church so it was fun to cheer on kids we knew.
In June we were able to get hit some prime strawberry picking. They were big, red, and juicy. Matthew's favorite food is the strawberry so he was in heaven, he ate a lot and was completely covered in strawberry juices when we got home. The freezer jam came out perfect, I only wish we had picked more while we had them.
At the end if June I celebrated another birthday on Father's Day! Our day was a party from sun up till sun down. I did something out of the ordinary and requested a non-chocolate cake, strawberry shortcake, it was heavenly! What better present than having a wonderful dad for my kids, thanks for sharing the spotlight Seth!
A week before my birthday I was ambushed in the middle of an organizing project by some ladies who whisked me away to downtown Ann Arbor. We indulged in cupcakes at a new bakery called the "Cupcake Station." They had so many different kinds, I went with Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, Yum! Thanks ladies!
We went to the "Michigan Challenge" in Howell (45 min north of Ann Arbor) where they set off about 70 hot air balloons at once. We never could figure out what the "challenge" was but it was very impressive. Among the thousands and thousands of people there we bumped into some friends from the ward who had already scoped out great seats. They were kind enough to let us join them and watch all the action a few feet away!
The day before the 4th of July we went to the Toledo Zoo with the rest of Ohio! It was really busy but the weather was perfect and the boys loved it! Kudos to Seth who went on the Merry Go Round twice (once holding onto each boy). There is no way I could have made it, I couldn't even watch it!
For the 4th of July we went to a carnival the singles ward in our stake put on. There was some major balloon skills going on! We decided at the last minute to go the Ann Arbor parade after wards. It was pretty calm and had long enough action for the boys. We went to a barbecue and then had fireworks. Matthew loved every second of them and couldn't stop laughing (last year he just cried)! We had apple pie and root beer floats while watching our celebration. I love our country!
The boys are growing fast and are keeping busy with their friends who live in on our court. There is a huge group that hangs out together. I see Charlie when he runs into pee and when I make him come in for food. Matthew follows along with Charlie's gang pretty well and they do ok staying out of trouble. They are completely filthy at the end of the day, oh the life of being a little boy in the summer.
