Brighton Camping!

Has it really been almost two years since we camped as a family? Since we have little Lucy, we decided to keep it simple by staying close and by just going overnight. We went to Brighton which is only about 30 min away. We started off with a "modern" campsite but when we actually drove out to the spot and saw it was nothing more than a spot in a village of tents, we opted for the "rustic" (and recieved a $7 refund). We had a lot more privacy and the sights were ten times bigger:) We roasted hot dogs, tin foil dinners, and smores. We were joined by the Gibsons who we met when both of our families moved to Michigan back 2005. It was fun to sit back and see how much our fmilies have grown in five years. Matt and Kirsten were also intense Bohnanza players beating Seth and me their first time playing.
A family picture, minus Lucy who was sleeping in her laundry basket.

Eden loved the burned smore variety, and yes, she ate them right up.
There were frogs all over our campsite and the kids had an easy time catching them. It wasn't the wild life I had in mind seeing, but very entertaining.

Charlie, Matthew, and Sam swimming in Bishop lake the next day. I am now a firm believer that every campout should end with a swim to clean the campsite off.
I can't believe I've posted all these pictures and Lucy is in NONE of them. She is usually the only thing I take pictures of these days! She was a dream and slept perfectly. Her highlight was all the watermelon she was able to gum on.

A Perfect Moment....

Have you ever had a moment where you say to yourself, "If I could be anywhere in the world, I would be right here." I said that to myself today at Independence Lake sitting underneath my beach umbrella. Lucy was content sitting on my lap and the boys where out in the water playing with their dad. Lucy and I shortly joined them in the water which she loved! (it was so warm) Here's to a hope for many more moments like this:)

Holiday!

What a perfect Independence day or should I say days, we celebrated the entire weekend! The celebrations included two barbecues,(both with delicious food) a picnic in the park, and a trip to Independence lake. I was too buys slathering all of us in sunscreen to get any pictures at the lake, we'll just have to go back. This was the first year Charlie was able to understand and ask questions about what the "Fourth of July" is really all about. He was fascinated with the whole story (boys and war) and I loved explaining how are country had divine help in its creation.

Our Lucy Goosey was not a fan of the fireworks and was wisked away inside:(
These two are big fans of each other, I love it!

Lucy's Flying Five!

It's amazing how much this girl has changed in ONE month. She has gone from batting at toys to grabbing everything in sight. She rolls all over and although we haven't officially started the solids, she usually can get her dad to give her whatever he's eating. The boys love playing in the sprinklers and Lucy has been lucky enough to join them on occasion:)

She LOVES Sophie! Isn't the halter top a bit scandalous, but oh so cute!
