A "Truck" party!

Matthew had been planning his party since Charlie had his birthday back in November. I'm not sure a four year old "needs" a friend party but we have to take any excuse for something fun in February. It just so happened we were able to plan it at the exact same time as his play group. We added a couple of extra kids to the already rowdy group of boys and it was and exciting couple of hours. I don't think Portia even realized she was the only girl; she held her own with the boys.
"Pin The Tire On The Truck"
James, Portia, Jude, Spencer, Matthew, Anders, Ben
We didn't think the kids were quite ready for a regular pinata (James with a bat seemed too risky) so Seth found a calmer take off that the kids loved. It looked like a pinata but with a whole bunch of strings attached at the bottom with candy tied to them. The kids took turns pulling on one of the strings. Eventually, one of them pulled the string that made the bottom of the box give out so all the candy fell out. Seth new which string was the "trigger" so he oriented it away from the child who picked the string. Everybody got a turn before the last lucky kid pulled the string that made the bottom fall open.
Matthew explaining the rules.
We also played "Car, Car, Truck" (Duck, Duck, Goose) and had a treasure hunt. It was a complete success with only a few tears from the birthday boy.
The morning after his party Matthew asked when his next party would be.
